Seminary Personal Item Pickup

Pickup Process

Our goal is get your items to you as safely and efficiently as possible.  The following process is designed with these goals in mind.

Please plan to arrive at your scheduled time.  If you arrive early, please wait in your car until your time.  Because we have up to two people in each time slot, and there will be people both coming and going, there may be as many as four students waiting at any time.  Once your time arrives, we are asking that you exit your car and wait outside under the awning over the second floor entrance.  Please wear a mask and be mindful of others.

We will meet you outside at the start of your time slot.  Please have any necessary bags or boxes with you; we unfortunately cannot provide them.  We will take your bags or boxes and use them to fetch your items.  Given current campus restrictions, you will not be able to enter the building during this process.  As an alternative, we may also retrieve the items using boxes we have on hand, but you would then need to transfer the contents to your own bags or boxes before departing.

We anticipate being able to do one "load" per person during the allotted 15 minutes.  For reference, a full load will probably mean around 4-6 "banker's boxes" of materials.  If your items exceed that limit, you will need to make special arrangements to clear out your space.  Please contact dbw2@calvin.edu for more information.

Locker Keys

Please bring your locker key with you if you need items from your locker. If you will not be returning as a student, you may also return your key and retrieve your deposit during your appointment.

Library Materials

The primary purpose of this service is to make sure people can get their personal belongings out of the building.  That said, we will also offer limited retrieval of Hekman materials you have already checked out.  To take advantage of this, please do the following:

  1. Print out a list of your current circulations from here: https://ulysses.calvin.edu/eg/opac/myopac/circs
  2. Indicate via highlight or other clear marking which items from that list you want included in your belongings.  You may select a maximum of 20 items.  If the list is less than 20 items, you may simply indicate that you would like the entire list.
  3. Provide the printout to us when you arrive.

The purpose of this process is to ensure that library materials leaving the building are accounted for, and to do so in a way which does not overwhelm our limited staff (two people).  We will not be able to add any new circulations to your account, nor do we expect to have time to double-check circulations in our system.  By coming prepared with this list, we can be confident quickly and retrieve the materials promptly.

You are welcome to also return materials during your time if you wish, or at any other time via the drop box.  Please note that all existing checkouts have again been extended, and are currently due on June 15 or later.
