International Dictionary of Theatre
A three-volume resource. Volume one studies plays, with each entry providing the date and location of the play's first production, a chronologically-organized list of books and articles on the play, and a critical essay on it by an expert in the field. Volume two focuses on playwrights, and each entry consists of a brief biography of the playwright, a list of works by the entrant, a list of publications about the entrant, and a critical overview of the playwright's work written by a specialist. Volume three is devoted to actors, directors, and designers and each entry consists of a brief biography of the actor, director, or designer, a list of publications about the subject, and a critical overview of the subject's work written by a specialist in the field.
