Mid-term Elections at a Polling Place Near You
The librarians at Hekman work hard to help our users discriminate between which information sources are reliable and which are not. This is important to know when you consider which candidate you want to support, particularly as the mid-term elections are coming up in less than two weeks. All political cndidates are susceptible to exaggerating the facts and quoting their opponents' words out of context - not only those on the extreme left or right.
We have created informational videos and guides to help you in your decision process. Here are a few:
- Page from research guide about fake news
- Page from class guide about finding fair and balanced news
- A previous blog post written by a Calvin student
- A short video on evaluating information in an everyday context
- Another short video on evaluating news by using fact-checking sites
So, if you want to be a smart voter, do your homework. We've made it relatively easy for you!
