'Knowable Magazine' Reaches Broad Audience
Annual Reviews are volumes of critical reviews issued annually which focus on the research of the preceding year in many science fields, such as biochemistry, microbiology and earth & planetary science. The Hekman Library subscribes to 13 titles in the series. Knowable Magazine is the digital platform for Annual Reviews. Its aim is to "explore the real-world significance of scholarly work through a journalistic lens." The magazine's advisory group includes a graphic novelist and a creator/host of a video series "It's OK to Be Smart."
"Broad audience" appeal, you claim? Here's an example: an article dated 12-20-21 about the science of champagne bubbles! Chemist Gérard Liger-Belair, head of an eight-member team at the University of Reims, Champagne-Ardenne, studies the effervescent fizz within and above a glass of champage.
And comics? Are you serious? Oh, yes! Here are some examples:
- "How the pandemic could change architecture"
- "Unpersuasive: Why arguing about climate change often doesn't work"
So, in your free time between Christmas and New Year's, dabble in Knowable, and you'll impress your friends with your science knowledge!
