Hekman's 2nd or main floor is a space where a lot happens. There are three service points:

• Checkout Desk where you can check materials in and out, pick up holds, ask about MeLCat or interlibrary loan, get answers about your library account, etc.
• Research Assistance Desk (shown in the photo). This is where you can get help with any question, whether simple or complex. As you see from the photo, we employ students as research consultants. Librarians sit at this desk in the afternoons.
• Rhetoric Center where helpful feedback for writers and speakers is provided by peer coaches. (Located just to your right as you enter the library).

NEXUS Peer Financial Coaching is also on the 2nd floor (back, center) and Peet's Coffee. (Can't miss Peet's!)

There are multiple special collections on the floor: Reference Collection (blue compact shelves), Curriculum Collection, Cayvan Recorded Media, and Government Documents (also on compact shelves).

If you're a returning student you may notice that the sightlines are clearer on this floor. We used to have very high shelves, and now they have been brought down closer to chest height. This lets you see at a glance all that this lively floor, and the staff who work there, have to offer.
