Explore Two New Authors Series
If you're reading a book for fun this summer and want to find out something about the author, look no further than these two series, recently cataloged by our Head of Collection Management, Francene Lewis: Scribner Writer Series and Something About the Author.
The Scribner Writers Online Series includes many reference sets - from African-American Writers to Writers for Young Adults. Let's say you want to discover biographical information about Isabel Wilkerson, author of Caste: the Origins of our Discontents (2020). Search for her name in the database and several biographies emerge. The latest is dated 2018. Full text is there along with a list of selected writings and sources to consult for more information.
Something About the Author provides illustrated biographical articles on authors and illustrators of works for children and young adults. An example: search for young adult author John Green, whose most popular book to date is The Fault in Our Stars (2012). You can read about this book (detailed synopsis) and about the author, including details about Green's career, awards and honors, and interesting sidelights about his previous jobs and hobbies.
We're pleased to bring to you the full text of these outstanding series.
