Entrada Scholars 2021 Encounter the Library
On June 30 and 31, Hekman librarians welcomed 85 students and their coaches to the library to play a game and learn a little bit about the library in the process.
The students are involved in Calvin University's Entrada Program. The program is now more than 30 years old, and over 1500 young scholars have participated. "Entrada" is a Spanish word meaning "an expedition or journey into unexplored territory" (Merriam-Webster). The program offers racial and ethnic minority high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to experience college learning and living while earning college credit. Some of the group of 85 will be starting Calvin officially in the fall.
Students from three classes paired up and competed in the library game "Search and Destroy." The game's goal is to help students become a little more familiar with database searching and to have fun in the process!
Entrada runs from June 27 through July 22.
