The Difference Between Knowledge and Wisdom
The reference and instruction librarians at Hekman Library have been working for the past couple of years on a new approach to information literacy from a distinctly Christian perspective. It encourages students to develop Christian virtues as they undertake their scholarly work, and is grounded in the area of information literacy.
Here's one definition of information literacy (there are many good ones out there): "Information literacy is about understanding the information we encounter and knowing how to respond to and use that information responsibly, ethically, and wisely."
One of the lead librarians in this effort, and the person who created the Wise Scholar reflection videos, is our Student Learning Librarian, Amanda Matthysse. The best way to learn about this new approach to teaching information literacy is to dip into the videos. There are six, and the longest is just over two and a half minutes.
