A Hekman Library Treasure

A Hekman Library Treasure

On November 24, Conrad Bult, reference librarian at Hekman LIbrary for more than 30 years, died peacefully at his home in Arizona. Bult retired from Calvin in 1999.

He was by many people's definition a great librarian. Those students who had the benefit of his help and expertise did not forget him! He knew the book collections, including the rare books, extremely well. He had helped to curate them, after all. And he knew where and how to find answers to questions, even those which reference librarians call "stumpers."

Perhaps Conrad Bult's greatest legacy is the 5,000+ volume children's literature collection named after him and his wife that the library acquired in 2019. Its full title is the Conrad and Delores Bult Children's Literature Collection, and it is housed in the library's rare book room.

To read more about our beloved colleague and friend, here is a tribute written by Assistant Director of Media Relations, Matt Kucinski.
