January Series, 2023 - Library Connections
Hekman Library often purchases books and media featuring January Series speakers. This year's list of speakers is no exception. In fact, this year's list surpasses any other in recent memory in terms of books purchased by the library, with Gary Schmidt and N.T. Wright being the most prolific.
Discover what we have by authors Angela Williams Gorrell, L. Gregory Jones, Reuben Miller, Colum McCann and Calvin English professor, Gary Schmidt (plus more). Here's a sample:
- A couple of Gary Schmidt's most recent are Just Like That (written with a young adult audience in mind) and A Long Road on a Short Day (with an even younger audience in mind), although Gary's readers know that his books are able to delight and capture the imaginations of all ages.
- Theologian and Biblical scholar N.T. Wright is familiar to Calvin audiences. His latest book is a commentary on Galatians.
- L. Gregory Jones, known for his books on forgiveness; Calvin owns 15 authored by Jones.
- Reuben Miller on America's justice system; book Halway Home: Race, punishment, and the afterlife of mass incarceration.
