Entrada Students Go On a Scavenger Hunt!
On Monday and Tuesday of the week of July 22, two of Hekman's research and instruction librarians, Sarah Kolk and Amanda Matthysse, created a scavenger hunt for the Entrada students. (The annual summer Entrada Scholars Program offers ethnic minority junior and senior high school students the opportunity to experience college learning and living while earning college credit. Each summer approximately 80 students enroll, and a number of the seniors plan to attend Calvin in the fall).
Four classes of 12-15 students each had to go all over the library and find books, collections, and people. It was a competition to see which group was able to finish first. At each station or stop, the small groups of students took selfies to prove they'd found what they were asked to find.
Here is one group with librarian Kathy DeMey at the library's Research Desk.
