Oxford Research Encyclopedias
The Oxford Research Encyclopedias (OREs) offer long-form overview articles written and edited by leading scholars. They cover both foundational and cutting-edge topics in order to develop a substantive knowledge base for major areas of research across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
Hekman Library has invested in three disciplines to date, plus the Encyclopedia of Social Work published by NASW Press and Oxford University Press. The three subject areas are Communication, Climate Science, and International Studies. Each ORE is updated reguarly. For example, you can read "What's New" from January 2021 and browse all "recently published articles." (Calvin does not have full text access to all recently published articles).
There's a lot of free content! For example, The Oxford Encyclopedia of Physics has 23 full text articles that can be accessed by anyone with a Calvin username and password. Each article is accompanied by lengthy references and by links to digital materials.
