Hekman welcomes campers from Cook Arts Center
Calvin's Service Learning Center contacted some Hekman librarians to ask if the librarywould host from 50-60 children in the library on Friday, June 29. We were eager to have them come. Children were ages 5 - 12 and they came to us in smaller groups of 18. The other stops were the Center Art Gallery and DeVos Communication Center.
The children were day campers from the Grandville Avenue Arts and Humanities' Cook Arts Center. We read to them in the children's literature area on 5th floor, gave them a short tour which highlighted a few of our special collections, and played a madlibs game. The youngest children also got a look at the Curriculum Collection's puppets.
Here you see librarians Kathy DeMey and Sarah Kolk reading to one of the groups.
