As Grand Rapids finally escapes the threat of snow, the city has filled with bikes. Cyclists hit the road to train for a triathlon, to explore the city, and to commute. According to Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., about 32 percent of downtown residents bike or walk to work – and that number likely finds its peak in the summer months.

• Bicycling (Periodical Section; Online 1993-current) – According to its website, BM is a place for “bicycling news, gear reviews, repairs, training tips, fueling, and more.”
• Holy spokes: the search for urban spirituality on two wheels (BR115.C45 E94 2017) – Boston pastor, “bike evangelist,” and memoirist Laura Everett explores her own eight-year commitment to biking to work and the community she discovered along the road.
• Roads were not built for cars : how cyclists were the first to push for good roads & became the pioneers of motoring (TA1145 .R45 2015; also an e-book) – Journalist Carlton Reid follows the development of cycling advocacy groups and their impact today.
• How cycling can save the world (HE5736 .W35 2017) - Walker argues that the simplest way to tackle many of the world's social and environmental problems is with one of humankind's most perfect inventions--the bicycle.
