Spotlight on Children's Literature
While you may have visited the children's literature collection at the library as a nice study space, you may not know that the library has a newly updated subject guide on all things to do with children's and young adult literature.
Among the new additions to the subject guide is a section on diverse and multicultural books. By visiting this page, you can explore some of the diverse titles that Hekman has to offer. Be sure to check out the campaign video for the "We Need Diverse Books" movement and click on some of the links that offer lists of notable multicultural books.
The children's literature subject guide also has an updated page that features children's and young adult literature awards. From the Caldecott Medal and the Newbery Medal to the Coretta Scott King Awards and the Alex Awards, you can find information on more than a dozen awards and see some of the award-winning titles that the library has on its shelves.
If you're visiting the guide just hoping to find some fun new books to read, check out the slideshow on the Finding Books page and browse through some of the library's newest children's and young adult titles.
The children's literature collection is more than just a congenial and well-lit study spot!
