It’s been 500 years since the Protestant Reformation in Europe with far-reaching effects on worship today. How much do you know about the Reformation and its impact? Here are some interesting facts:

• “A Mighty Fortress,” written by Luther in the late 1520s, became known as the “battle hymn of the Reformation.”
• Reading scripture in the language of the people officially became “a thing.” Luther’s German New Testament (1522) was so popular that it helped shape the written German language.
• Churches physically changed when they “reformed”: from rectangular to round, from altar-focused to pulpit-focused, from extensive ritual to preaching and song.
