Why Napping is Important...

Why Napping is Important...

It's that time of year again, students. You're rushing around to the copy machine, to check a citation for a source, to print a paper that's due in five minutes, to do some last-minute studying before your next class. The speed of your days has just increased two-fold, at least.

It's the week before exams, and there's so much to do and so little time. But your body is telling you that you need to rest, to catch a quick nap. Have you discovered the library's third floor lounge area?

Sophomore James Andrew Gilbert created a "Guide to Napping on Hekman's 3rd Floor Couches" for an online publication for Professor Don Hettinga's writing class. James comments, "[The] couches' central location is perfect for the in-between-classes nap, saving precious time that would have been wasted walking back to the dorms, especially if you live off-campus, in the KE apartments, or at the farther dorms." A few challenges, James notes, are the noise in the area (couches are near the library entrance), couches already in use, and the temptation to feel embarrassed about being found sleeping in the library.

But if you can surmount these challenges, we recommend you try it.
