Who Was Herman Bavinck?
Professor John Bolt, newly-appointed director of the Bavinck Institute of Calvin Seminary, gave an inaugural lecture on May 2 which opened the Bavinck special collection. Dr. Bolt highlighted the significance of Dutch theologian Herman Bavinck and his nephew Johan Herman Bavinck to Calvinism and the Reformed faith.
The evening included a display of Bavinck’s own writings and translations into English, Chinese, Indonesian and Portugese, along with some additional rare books and manuscripts that are a part of the collection. The Bavinck Collection will reside in Heritage Hall of Hekman Library. (Heritage Hall is a special collection on the library's 2nd floor).
