Women's Magazine Archive Trial
The Hekman Library is running a 30-day trial of the Women’s Magazine Archive. WMA comprises archival runs of leading women’s consumer magazines of the twentieth century. On completion, the collection will offer approximately 850,000 pages, scanned in full color.
There are actually two archives, and both provide full text access to foremost women's magazines. Archive 1 is more general in nature and includes publications such as Ladies Home Journal, Women's Day, and Town and Country. Archive 2 is focused on publications designed for specific audiences and themes. In this group are Cosmopolitian, Seventeen, Essence, and Women's International Network News.
This guide provides more information about the titles in both, and this guide gives you a good overview of the resource.
The trial began yesterday, so it will extend until May 24. We particularly invite faculty in sociology, gender studies, CAS, English, and history to explore the archives during this trial period.
