Women's History Month 2021
In 1987, the National Women's History Project (now Alliance) successfully lobbied Congress to designate the month of March as Women's History Month. Women's History Month is celebrated annually; it directs the nation's attention to the role that women have played, and continue to play, in shaping history. There are resources for every day of the month!
Some of Hekman's resources to support this celebration (accessible only to Calvin students, staff, and faculty):
- Oxford Encyclopedia of Women in World History (ebook)
- The Oxford Encyclopedia of Islam and Women (ebook)
- Encyclopedia of Women in American History (ebook)
- Latinas in the United States: a Historical Encyclopedia (ebook)
- Black Women of the Harlem Renaissance Era (ebook)
- Women in the American Political System: an Encyclopedia of Women as Voters, Candidates, and Office Holders
Our Librarian for Student Learning has created a diversity guide that includes a page on Women's History Month. Take a look at the special topics she's identified: minority women, sexism and feminism, religion, favorites by women authors, and movies.
