What is the Cochrane Library...

What is the Cochrane Library...

The Cochrane Library is a collection of six databases that contain different types of high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. There's a seventh database that provides information about Cochrane groups. New reviews and protocols are continuously published as they are ready.

Cochrane is especially suited to students, researchers and practitioners in medical fields. For example, if you check the homepage today you'll see that there are highlighted reviews on childhood vaccinations, stepping down corticosteroids for adults with asthma, and imaging for the exclusion of pulmonary embollism in pregnant women. As you can see, it's pretty sophisticated content.

The library purchased this database with the help of the Nursing Department, and it will likely be most beneficial to nursing students and professors. But students in SPAUD and in Public Health and Kinesiology will also find it useful, particularly as they progress through their programs.
