For many years now Hekman librarians have participated in the college's Passport orientation program by setting up shop at the Info Fairs. Passport introduces new, incoming students to college life, programs and services, including helping them select courses. Lately, at the library table, we've given students an incentive to add our Ask a Librarian (chat reference) phone number to their list of contacts. Students can call this number and receive immediate help from a librarian or library research assistant. Questions range from "Can you come up here to the 5th floor and enforce the quiet zone?!" to "Which database should I use to find information on an ad campaign?"
