Calvin Student Doing Research for Clean Water Institute

Senior Breanna Pennings is working with Engineering professor David Wunder this summer. What's her focus? It has to do with the taste and palatability of chlorinated water. Breanna is especially suited to do this work after having just returned from Ecuador, where Calvin's Clean Water Institute (CWICC) has a project. Librarian Luge Schemper helped Breanna to become more familiar with the library's engineering research databases.

Breanna writes, "While in Ecuador, we visited numerous communities to learn about their methods of supplying and disinfecting water. We were able to help one community add two chlorine pumps to their water system; this entailed digging a trench to install pipe with tubing in the center which added the diluted chlorine into their well."
