Faith & International Development Conference - Library Links
Calvin is again hosting the annual Faith and International Development Conference (FIDC) for the 8th year in a row. It runs from Jan. 31 - Feb. 2. One of this year's speakers is Calvin's own Professor of Economics, Roland Hoksbergen.
Naturally, the library has on its shelves the books authored and edited by Professor Hoksbergen. Here is a selection:
- Serving God globally : finding your place in international development, 2012
- Local ownership, global change : will civil society save the world?, 2002
Another speaker this year is Steven Radelet. His book Emerging Africa: how 17 countries are leading the way, 2010, can be borrowed through MeLCat.
Here are some selected works by speakers from last year's FICD conference:
- Twesigye Jackson Kaguri - The price of stones: building a school for my village, 2010 (The library owns the book, audio CD, and videorecording).
- Christopher L. Heuertz - Friendship at the margins: discovering mutuality in service and mission, 2010, and Simple spirituality: learning to see God in a broken world, 2008.
