Many of the library's research databases are familiar, even popular, such as JSTOR, ATLA, AcademicOne File, Sociological Abstracts, and PsycINFO.  There are many lesser-known databases, not all of which lead you to journal articles. The databases in the list below contain many different kinds of resources, such as reports, graphs, charts, audio files, newspaper articles, financial data, and large data sets. 

 

• Mintel provides access to consumer, market, and industry analyses. More than 600 report titles covering UK, European, US and International consumer markets are added to Mintel Oxygen every year. A one-time brief registration is required.
• Christian Reformed Periodical Index: produced by the Hekman Library staff, it contains more than 100,000 citations from publications affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church (CRC). If you need information on the history, theology, and culture of the CRC, this is the research database to use. 
• Naxos (Classical & Jazz):  enables users to listen to more than 5,000 CDs in near CD quality sound, one track at a time. It streams music via the Internet directly from Naxos servers. The Jazz library offers a mixed selection of jazz legends and contemporary jazz.  The library has purchased "slots" for 15 simultaneous logins. 
• DemographicsNow:  offers comprehensive business and demographic information to assess business viability, create sales leads and marketing mailing lists, complete location analyses and business plans, analyze population trends, and more.
• African-American Newspapers,1827-1998: provides online, full-text access to approximately 270 U.S. newspapers chronicling a century and a half of the African American experience. 
• ICPSR: our newest database!  Stands for "Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research." It supplies the numeric raw data used to create reports, publications, and figures. This is a fairly complex database! You can read the full description on our website.
